Joint Lifegroup / Business Meeting, Baptism & Prayer

Tonight is our first Lifegroup / Business Meeting of the year. Please make every effort to be present so you can be informed about the state of the church and the progress we have made over the last year. You will also learn more in detail about our vision for Harmony in 2018. We have some exciting news to share and I want you to be informed.

Also, this morning we will baptize Christiana Adkins. This is the second member of the family we have baptized since the Cervantes family has joined. William was baptized last year and now his aunt Christiana is being baptized today. This is a great blessing for Christiana and her family as well as our church family.
Let me challenge you to pray for our church on a regular basis. Pray for members to reach out to their friends, neighbors and coworkers. Pray for new believers like Christiana and William, pray for our efforts to reach children through Kids Beach Club and Jr. League basketball. Pray for our search for a new youth pastor. Pray for our youth as they learn to share the gospel on Saturdays.

Pray for our deacons, teachers, children’s workers, worship team and for your pastor. Pray that we will continue to see God’s blessings on our church.

What I Love About Jesus

One thing I love about Jesus is how He always gets to the heart of the matter. When the religious crowd was critical and judgmental He always cleared things up by focusing on what was important. When criticized about not keeping the “ rules” of religion He used two object lessons.

1.) The first was about putting a new patch on an old garment.
2.) The second was new wine in old wineskins.

While the message of the gospel never changes, methods to reach people do change.
The Lord Jesus cleared away all the religious rules and focused on reaching the lost.
So how are we affected by religious rules or tradition? One way is by thinking that Christianity is all about what we do rather than what God is doing. By that I mean simply going through the motions of going to church or reading your Bible. The question is why are we going to church and why are we reading our Bible?

The simple answer is, to understand and act on what Jesus tells us to do. His major

God At Work In His Church

Each Sunday for the next few months I will be preaching a series on the big picture of the Bible. There will be a few breaks along the way, as in this Sunday where we focus on the Johnson’s testimony of God working through the birth of their son Elijah. This is timely, because January is the month we recognize the sanctity of life.

I love being a pastor here at Harmony because God is working in the lives of His people.

God was working in the Johnson & Fino families, as they prayed and trusted that He would intervene on behalf of Elijah.

God was working in Jessica Thomas stepping up and offering to lead our Jr League ministry.

God was working in children coming to faith in Christ through Kids Beach Club.

God was working in the birth of babies in our church family.

God was working in ministry to families suffering the loss of loved ones.

God was working in ministry to families in crisis after an auto accident.

God was at work in providing employment for those who needed a job.
